The god took the form of the centipede. Centipede bites are painful but not dangerous to humans.

He was seen as a protective god. Centipedes fed on the insects that are poisonous such as the scorpion so Sep was believed to have power over other venomous insects and could be invoked for protection against scorpion stings and snake bites.
